I've said it before and I'll say it again: Truman had terrible poll numbers when he left office and is now very respected. When GWB thinks about his place in the history books (and you'd better believe he does) I think he takes these polls with a mountain of salt and sees himself as the next Truman.

Shhhhhhhh! The Wee Emperor still has a couple of years in which to surpass Truman. Let's not give him ideas. Well, OK, it's true that Dubya and "ideas" will forever be strangers. But let's not encourage him to do any monkey-see, monkey-do with things that make a really big boom.
